2018 | Ocean Waters
Program: food and energy generation, dormitory, coworking, gym, kitchen, nursey, art studio, spa, observatory
This design creates an utopian world on water. With climate changes and rising sea levels, the urban environment will need to adapt to new conditions. With that in mind the concept is to explore the possibilities of living in a floating city, by integrating with harmony urban with natural environments.
Integration is the key word behind all the premises of the project, including the shape development incorporating characteristics of marine elements like the starfish, boat and the lotus flower.
Floorplans that are above sea level receive more solar incidence, so activities as food generation and sport practicies are located on the upper floor.
Other functions are organized under water sea levels, as it gets deeper technical areas such as production and water storage, and production and energy storage systems takes place.
The deepest level is reserved for an aquarium observatory, connected to the upper floors by a staircase and an elevator central core.
One of the project goals is to be self efficient, so there is production of energy through existing natural resources such as the sun, wind and water.
To do so, solar panels, wind turbines and spiral turbines were implanted, generating energy and helping in the locomotion of the construction.
